The Malian Community in light of the tragic fire that took place last year, a new Non profit organization was born to aide the Malian community in New York and Mali called USA Mali Charitable Association of New York, UMACA, www.umaca.org . The goal is to raise money and create a center to reach out to Malian American children and also educate the larger American community of Mali's rich and historical culture. We believe in the "Doni-Doni" concept of starting small in order to achieve big goals. Our current goal is to establish a well in one of Mali's neediest villages that still does not have a source of water in their area. Water being the essential of life is something we hope we can bring to this village. On June 28 in Manhattan UMACA in association with Kamara World Production will be holding two very festive concerts to help raise money to immediately construct this Well. All money will go directly to this case and locally to set up classes at YMCA to teach the young Malian Community of their culture. Our goal is to raise $10,000. This concert consist of West African Ballet and a superstar singer from Mali, Mah Kouyate #2. Performers will be Mah Kouyate II, and the African Ballet Guinea Vision.
